Body fat can be estimated from your Body mass index or BMI. There are a number of alternative formulae that relate BMI to body fat. We have chosen the calculation from Deurenberg et al. But remember, although these calculations are based on equations published in peer reviewed journals they are only an estimate and there will be variations around the results.
Note: The body mass index is calculated from an individual's weight divided by the square of the height. The U.S. National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute uses the body mass index to classify obesity.

The BMI values correspond to the following body analysis:
- Underweight = <18.5
- Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
- Overweight = 25-29.9
- Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater
