To find your ideal weight use the free calculator below which is our Ideal Body Weight Calculator. The Calculator is based on the body mass index or BMI, which is a measure of body composition based on height and weight, that applies to both an adult man and woman. Please use the calculator to give a range for your ideal weight.
For more information about the BMI, and the ideal weight calculator and the relationship with body fat see the body mass index FAQ. To calculate your ideal weight and your BMI enter your body weight and height into the Ideal Weight Calculator, below. Alternatively you can calculate your body fat from BMI or see our list of body fat calculators based on anatomical measures and skinfold values.
We have also estimated the time required to achieve the ideal weight classifcation based on a safe weight loss of no more than 1 Kg (about 2 pounds) per week.
The body mass index is calculated from an individual's weight divided by the square of the height. The U.S. National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute uses the body mass index to classify obesity. Please note this is only a guide and does not take into account body frame or large muscle volume for example in athletes and body builders. For more information see the Body Mass Index FAQ.
The BMI values correspond to the following body analysis:
- Underweight = <18.5
- Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
- Overweight = 25-29.9
- Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater
